Helping Travelers Book Their Next Flight with Flight Ads on Facebook

By Simon Lejeune·Sep 6, 2018·2 min read

Facebook is expanding Flight Ads, an ad solution for airlines, to reach more potential travelers based on their interest in travel rather than only re-targeting those who visited an airline's site or app. Now, airlines can target people who have visited any flight-related Pages, websites, or apps, such as browsing multiple airline sites or flight pricing apps for a holiday trip. For example, if someone looks at trips to Mexico on various airline sites, they may see an ad for a specific flight route.

Travelers visiting travel-related Facebook Pages without a destination chosen may also see airline ads. Users can opt out via the ad's upper-right corner or manage preferences. Advertiser results include Air France lowering cost per search by 66% and Hopper reducing cost per app install by 20%.

Strong open rates, weak app revenue: your email campaign isn’t broken. Your links are.

Email, SMS, and push are high-intent channels, but a structural gap between click and in-app action causes massive drop-off. CTRs of 30-40% often yield only 1-3% in-app conversion. The root cause is ESP link wrapping, which breaks deep link context and attribution. Fixing the handoff through proper deep linking can double purchase rates and unlock channel performance. Brands must treat the link as a continuation layer, not a redirect, and ensure context survives the transition.
